From the
President’s Podium
- October 2005 -
I am sorry that there was no published September newsletter, but as most of you know, on Sunday evening, after coming home from our “Irish Country Fair”, I began showing symptoms of a stroke coming on (although I did not know what was happening at that time) but was able to get into my doctor on Monday, and as soon as he saw what was going on, he put me into De Paul Hospital, where I stayed for just over a month. They did many tests including an MRI (yes, they did find out that I do in fact have a brain) and found that my left side was affected.
Today (10/22) as I type this (able to only use the right hand right—this is real fun!), I am getting some strength and movement back into my left hand and I am starting to walk reasonably well with the help of a “quad” cane. So, thru the power of prayer (once again) I am coming back. “They” think that I should regain about 90-95% of my original mobility. Thanks to those of you who sent “get well” cards and/or called to inquire about my condition.
Now on to divisional news: The Irish Country Fair: We did not do well at this event (however, we did not lose money) with a net profit of only $24.32. Considering how the weather turned out, and what we were selling, I am glad we even made that much. We also sold some “St. Patrick’s Day” green bracelets. Those sales ($73.00) put the division out of the loss column, and into the profit column.
VERY IMPORTANT MEETING: The November meeting is very important to all members!! At the meeting, we will have the final round of officer nominations, with the election for the year 2006 to follow. Gentlemen, this is your chance to have a voice in just who leads the division. Attend the meeting and let your voice be heard.
Saturday evening, December 10th: It’s the annual Christmas party for AOH Division #1 and #2. All AOH and LAOH members, their families, including St. Charles, Oliver Plunket and Illinois members are invited! We sincerely ask that each family bring one “side dish” (pasta salad, small shrimp platter, cheese tray, etc.) for the table spread. The installation of officer’s ceremony will be held at 8:00 PM. Come enjoy a wonderful social evening in the Christmas season with your “brother and sister” Hibernians and their families!
Dia beannaigh tu gach! (God bless you all!)

President
