From the
President’s Podium
- march 2006 -
Cead Mile Failte': A Hundred Thousand Welcomes to all our new members who have joined the division. At the meeting we welcomed into the Order: Tim Kelly who joined actually at the October meeting, but since I was in the hospital at that time his name & pertinent information “got lost in the paperwork”, so welcome into the AOH and the division.
2006 Division #1 yearly dues: annual membership dues have come due. Brand new members its $30.00 plus a $5.00 initiation fee, minus the number of months you were not a member (if you joined in February, it’s minus $2.50 because you were not a member in January, and so on!!). For persons who are already members, its $30.00! Please get your dues in ASAP as the division must pay its “per capita tax” very soon to the St. Louis City/County Board, The Missouri State Board, and to AOH National Headquarters. These “taxes” provide their respective operating revenues. So your attention to these dues is very important.
St. Patrick’s Day Parade: According to Parade entry Chairman, Jim Sheerin, all positions have now been filled, and the parade line up has been set. We will have a total of 115 entries in the parade. Parade package pickup date is set for Wednesday March 1, beginning at 6:30 PM.
Upcoming Events: PLEASE make sure you thoroughly read the “upcoming events section!!!! There is a ton of events coming up within the next 2 months. Some are concerts/music events, some are AOH sponsored events. These are all posted here for your knowledge, and the “non-AOH” events are NOT necessarily endorsed one way or the other, but for you to know that they are taking place, should you wish to attend.
The St. Louis Area A.O.H. Color Guard is in a constant search for new members to join their ranks. Your complete uniform is furnished by the Color Guard team fund. IF you are interested, please contact Terry Madden at 314/ 631-1630 or at his e-mail address: tmadden@teamsterslocal682.com The team now under the leadership Of Terry Madden will be changing the style of uniforms after some 5 years to include kilts and a “Glengarry”(?), and spats in order to look more “Irish”. This should make for a real interesting uniform—Congratulations team!!!
St. Louis Hurling Club Information
As you know, many of our members have come to us by the way of the champion St. Louis Hurling Club. For that reason we have been asked to inform you of some of their 2006 activities. These include:
I wanted to share some key dates for the next 3 months with regards to Hurling. Jim, if you could include this into the next AOH President's Podium, we'd appreciate it. We have quite a few younger Hibernians playing, as you know. Let me know if you have any questions - and THANKS!
